New Law Fines Cosmetic Clinics Up to £20,000
18 Mar
Summary
- Treatments for under-18s are now an offense.
- Non-surgical cosmetic procedures limited to approved locations.
- Maximum fine for violations is £20,000.

New legislation has been enacted, making it illegal to provide non-surgical cosmetic treatments to individuals under the age of 18. Performing such procedures outside of permitted premises will also constitute an offense, carrying a maximum penalty of a £20,000 fine.
These procedures will be restricted to NHS GP practices, dentists, and pharmacies. Private hospitals and clinics can also offer treatments, provided they are registered with Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
All treatments must be supervised by a suitably qualified practitioner, which may include doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, or pharmacists. Furthermore, the government now has the authority to establish specific standards for hygiene, qualifications, and safety within the cosmetic treatment sector.
