- Pulayanarkotta hospital to accommodate non-serious patients.

To alleviate overcrowding and improve patient conditions, a new medicine outpatient division has been established at Pulayanarkotta Chest Diseases hospital. This facility serves as an extension of the Government Medical College's General Medicine department.
The government has committed to a policy of not accommodating patients on the floor in public hospitals. Pulayanarkotta will now receive non-serious patients from the Medical College when beds are unavailable, with plans for 200 beds, 100 of which are prepared in the initial phase.
This new unit is designed for patients requiring medication and monitoring. Direct consultations at the General Medicine OP in Pulayanarkotta are also available. Two ambulances are ready for patient transfers, and discussions are underway to arrange bus services between the Medical College and Pulayanarkotta.
Health Minister K. Muraleedharan stated that steps are being taken to reduce congestion in other medical colleges as well. This involves reallocating doctor services based on patient numbers and identifying underutilized facilities for appropriate use.
