Mumbai's western suburbs have seen a significant boost in primary healthcare with the recent opening of a new urban health training centre in Malad Malvani. This facility is set to serve nearly 3.5 lakh residents, bringing essential medical services closer to their neighborhoods and reducing the need for extensive travel to larger civic hospitals.
The centre, inaugurated recently, offers a range of outpatient services including general medicine, women's health, dermatology, dental care, and tuberculosis treatment. Medical professionals and students from Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and KEM Hospital will manage the operations, adhering to national medical education guidelines. Patients requiring specialized care will be referred to nearby BMC hospitals.
Equipped with facilities for up to 300 OPD patients daily, the five-story building also houses a library, an IEC hall, a public health museum, and a research unit. Future plans include increasing staff numbers and implementing an updated Hospital Management Information System to further enhance service delivery and community health outreach.
