Health teams are conducting door-to-door visits across urban and rural areas to raise awareness and educate parents about pneumonia symptoms, including rapid breathing and persistent cough. The campaign aims to benefit over 1.5 lakh children, with health workers receiving special training as per the National Pneumonia Management Guidelines (2019).
However, the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and advanced respiratory support facilities at the local Civil Hospital in Sector 10 have remained non-functional for some time, leaving children suffering from severe respiratory illnesses and pneumonia without specialized care. Doctors are forced to refer critical cases to hospitals in Delhi or Rohtak, whichever is more convenient for the patients.
Hospital authorities attribute the gap in specialized care to inadequate infrastructure, limited medical equipment, and a shortage of trained pediatric staff. Officials acknowledge the lack of facilities and assure that efforts are underway to improve the situation, with the aim of making government hospitals better than private ones.
