A seasonal viral infection has affected students at an ashramshala in Visapur, Kalwan taluka, Nashik. On Friday, September 5, 2025, 24 girl students were hospitalized with fever and cold. Their admission came after an eight-year-old student with similar symptoms died on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Health authorities have reassured the public that the situation is under control and there is no unusual disease outbreak. Paediatrician Dr Janak Purkar stated that all admitted children are safe, stable, and responding well to treatment. Such airborne viral infections are common during the monsoon season.
In response, Nashik district collector Ayush Prasad has directed all ashramshala and hostel authorities to prioritize student health. Immediate medical check-ups and timely treatment are mandated for students exhibiting contagious illness symptoms. Some students have raised concerns about food, water, and facilities, demanding an inquiry.
