A harrowing incident has emerged from Mumbai, where a couple alleges severe medical negligence after a large surgical gauze was discovered inside a new mother following childbirth. The complication arose after a recent delivery at a Dongri hospital.
The new mother began experiencing a high fever and body aches shortly after welcoming her baby on May 9. Despite initial antibiotic treatment prescribed by the operating gynaecologist, her condition did not improve. Stronger antibiotics were administered by May 21.
Seeking further medical attention, the family moved to another facility on May 28, where an examination led to the discovery of the retained surgical gauze. The patient was subsequently moved to Saifee Hospital, where doctors successfully retrieved the gauze. The woman remains under medical care, and the Pydhonie police have begun an investigation, awaiting medical reports and expert opinions before proceeding with charges.
