Summary
- Multi-organ donation saved three lives.
- A 32-year-old man's organs were donated.
- Family consent was crucial for the donation.

A remarkable multi-organ donation at Jipmer has given a new lease on life to three individuals. The process began after a 32-year-old man, Rajan from Neyveli, was declared brain stem dead.
Rajan had sustained severe head injuries in a road accident and was admitted to Jipmer on July 29. Despite intensive medical efforts, he suffered irreversible brain damage.
Following certification of brain stem death, his family generously consented to organ donation. Jipmer facilitated the allocation of his liver and kidneys, successfully transplanting them into three patients suffering from end-stage organ failure. The donated corneas also offer the gift of sight.
Jipmer emphasizes the critical role of deceased organ donation in bridging the gap between organ demand and availability, urging the public to discuss their wishes with family.
