Mom's Camper Van Vigil for Son's Return Home

A mother's unwavering dedication is evident as she resides in a camper van in a Liverpool care home's car park to remain close to her son, Ethan Richardson. Ethan, now 28, suffered severe brain damage due to complications from type 1 diabetes, a condition diagnosed when he was 14. The incident occurred in September 2024, leading to intensive care.

Following initial treatment, Ethan was transferred to a rehabilitation center in December 2024. Assessments later indicated he was in a "minimally conscious negative" state, showing inconsistent signs of awareness. He remained in care until September 2025 before moving to a neurological care home for further evaluation.

The family's goal is to bring Ethan back to their adapted home on the Isle of Man. A fundraising appeal for the necessary home modifications has already garnered over £24,000. His mother expresses a deep desire to create happy memories for Ethan and his young son, cherishing his smiles and expressions of emotion.

Despite the immense challenges and the grief of losing the Ethan they once knew, the family believes returning him to his home and loved ones will optimize his recovery. They acknowledge the difficult road ahead but are committed to fulfilling what they believe are Ethan's own wishes.
