Summary
- E. coli bacteria detected in Moore's public water supply.
- Boil water advisory issued for specific areas east of I-35.
- Contamination poses risks, especially to vulnerable populations.

A boil water advisory has been issued for certain areas of Moore, Oklahoma, following the detection of E. coli bacteria in the public water system. The contamination was identified in a routine water sample collected on Thursday, July 9th, east of Interstate 35.
The advisory is in effect for customers within a specific zone: north of SE 4th Street, south of Indian Hills Road, and west of the Moore city limits. Residents outside this defined area are not impacted by the advisory.
E. coli and fecal coliform bacteria are indicators of potential contamination from human or animal waste. These can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea and nausea. Infants, young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems are at a higher risk of severe illness.
The city is collaborating with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality to address the contamination and restore safe water. Updates will be provided as the situation progresses and when the boil order is lifted.
