Summary
- A vital defibrillator used over 40 times is missing for two weeks.
- Its absence puts lives at risk during cardiac emergencies.
- Campaigner Carlos Santos urges the return of the life-saving device.

A life-saving defibrillator, crucial for cardiac emergencies in Bristol, has been missing for approximately two weeks, sparking fears for public safety. The device, located at Broad Quay, has been deployed over 40 times, potentially saving numerous lives. Its absence means a reduced response time for those suffering heart attacks.
Carlos Santos, who spearheaded the installation of the defibrillator, highlighted its critical role, stating that survival rates decrease significantly with each passing minute. He established BristolResus4All with the aim of ensuring accessible defibrillators across the city.
South Western Ambulance Service confirmed the device was removed for a medical emergency on Saturday, July 11. While acknowledging the necessity of quick access, they prefer publicly accessible defibrillators remain unlocked. Avon and Somerset Police are investigating its disappearance, urging anyone with information to come forward to ensure the return of this vital equipment.
