Defying Odds: Mother Welcomes Triplets After Infertility Diagnosis
28 Jun
Summary
- Marina was diagnosed with a significantly diminished ovarian reserve.
- Doctors advised that natural conception was highly unlikely.
- The couple welcomed triplets, defying medical predictions.

Marina Selim, 30, and her husband Bishoy Salib, 33, celebrated the birth of triplets Miracle, Levi, and Suriel on November 28, 2025, a joyous event that defied earlier medical prognoses.
Marina had been diagnosed with a significantly diminished ovarian reserve, with anti-Müllerian hormone levels at 0.2 picomoles per litre, far below the normal range for her age. Doctors had indicated that natural conception was highly unlikely, even stating she would be ineligible for NHS fertility treatment unless her levels were significantly higher.
Despite facing devastating news and the suggestion of egg donation, which was not an option for the devout Coptic Orthodox couple, they held onto their faith. After Marina's periods stopped in February 2025, a pregnancy test on May 19, 2025, surprisingly came back positive.
Subsequent scans revealed Marina was expecting not one, but three babies. The triplets were safely delivered at Royal Sussex Hospital. The couple and medical professionals remain without a clear explanation for how the pregnancy occurred against such low odds.
