Summary
- A roast chicken dinner led to a life-threatening battle with sepsis.
- Udhyam Amin spent two weeks in a coma and relearned basic functions.
- His family raised over £37,000 for the hospital's intensive care unit.

Udhyam Amin, a 64-year-old father of three, was given mere hours to live after falling critically ill following a meal at his local pub in February. Initially suspected as food poisoning, his condition rapidly worsened to sepsis and multi-organ failure.
He was rushed to St Helier Hospital, where his health deteriorated severely, leading to a cardiac arrest and placement on a ventilator. His family was informed he was the sickest patient and might not survive. Udhyam spent two weeks in an induced coma.
Following his recovery, Udhyam had to relearn to walk and speak. He has since returned home and is back to working seven days a week. He expressed profound gratitude to the medical teams for saving his life and giving him a second chance.
Udhyam and his family have initiated a fundraiser for the Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity, raising over £37,000 to support the intensive care unit that treated him and assist other critically ill patients and their relatives.
