Health Minister K.G. Arunraj conducted a surprise inspection at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital on Tuesday. During his visit, the minister issued directives to promptly establish a food court, aiming to enhance the convenience for patients.
Discussions also focused on repurposing unused areas within the hospital complex to introduce beneficial public facilities. The minister stressed the importance of maintaining hospital washrooms and instructed the Public Works Department to ensure adequate exhaust ventilation.
Further instructions were given to verify the daily attendance of sanitation workers and to keep staircases and vacant spaces clean, free from accumulated waste. The minister also reviewed the upkeep of elevators.
During the inspection, several lapses were noted, including an unpleasant odor from a common toilet and the toilet cleaning checklist not being signed after 7 a.m. Poor maintenance of staircases was also observed.
Consequently, the Director of the TNGMSSH has formally requested an explanation from the facility management company's manager regarding these routine work deficiencies within a three-day timeframe.
