A tiny miracle has unfolded in Navi Mumbai, where an extremely premature infant, born at 23 weeks and 6 days, has successfully survived after spending 78 days in intensive care. This micro-preemie, weighing a mere 690 grams at birth, faced numerous critical complications.
Doctors at Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, reported that the infant suffered from severe respiratory distress, apnea, a heart condition (PDA), anemia, jaundice, feeding intolerance, and bone fragility. The medical team provided mechanical ventilation, specialized therapies, and close monitoring to stabilize the baby and protect against infections.
After nearly three months of dedicated care, the infant's condition significantly improved. Lung function stabilized, the PDA closed, and feeding progressed from tube support to breastfeeding. The baby was discharged weighing 2.56 kg, a tremendous achievement for such an early arrival.
