23 Jan
Summary
- Nine individuals were hospitalized in Indore's Mhow due to contaminated water.
- The cases follow over 20 deaths from water-borne diseases in Madhya Pradesh.
- Officials are monitoring water quality and ensuring treatment for affected residents.

In Indore's Mhow tehsil, nine individuals were hospitalized on Thursday night due to suspected consumption of contaminated water. The affected areas include Patti Bazaar and Chander Marg. This incident comes on the heels of a significant health crisis in Madhya Pradesh, where more than 20 deaths were attributed to water-borne diseases in the preceding weeks.
Indore Collector Shivam Verma visited Mhow to assess the situation, checking on patients and speaking with local residents. Mhow MLA Usha Thakur also visited the hospital. An official stated that while nine patients are hospitalized, others are recovering at home, and no critical cases were reported as of Thursday night.
The health department has been directed to provide comprehensive treatment, and the Mhow Cantonment Board is tasked with monitoring water quality and maintaining sanitation. Health authorities plan to survey affected areas and provide medical assistance to anyone exhibiting symptoms. This follows a recent diarrhoea outbreak in Indore that led to at least 15 reported deaths, with residents claiming a higher toll.
