Meningitis Scare: Daughter's Life Saved by Housemate's Quick Call
17 Mar
Summary
- Daughter hospitalized with meningitis symptoms after nightclub visit.
- Early symptoms were mistaken for COVID-19 by mother.
- Housemate's immediate ambulance call saved the daughter's life.

A young woman named Keeleigh Goodwin was hospitalized with meningitis, a serious infection that has led to an outbreak in Canterbury, Kent. The outbreak is believed to have originated partly from a local nightclub, Club Chemistry. Keeleigh attended the club on a Thursday and subsequently developed symptoms including headaches, sickness, and fatigue, which her mother, Khali Goodwin, initially attributed to COVID-19.
However, Keeleigh's condition worsened, and she developed a stiff neck, a hallmark symptom of meningitis. After experiencing a seizure and falling, her housemate promptly called an ambulance, which likely saved her life. Keeleigh, who is over the age for the meningitis B vaccine, is currently in isolation at the hospital but is reportedly improving, though she continues to suffer from a persistent headache.
