Summary
- Over 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat products recalled.
- Products recalled due to storage at unsafe temperatures.
- No illnesses reported, but consumers urged to discard or return items.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced a significant recall affecting approximately 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. This nationwide recall was initiated by Kayem Foods Inc. due to concerns that some products may have been exposed to unsafe temperatures during storage.
The issue came to light on October 1, 2026, when a retail customer reported that meat products were warm upon delivery. An subsequent investigation by Kayem Foods revealed that certain items stored in a warehouse cooler experienced temperature fluctuations outside the acceptable range.
The recall encompasses a wide variety of items, including hot dogs, cocktail franks, kielbasa, bratwurst, ham, turkey, bologna, corned beef, liverwurst, chicken sausages, meatballs, bacon, and brisket. These products were manufactured between March 31, 2026, and October 7, 2026, and distributed across the United States, with some shipments also going to Hong Kong.
Consumers can identify recalled products by checking labels for specific establishment numbers: "EST. M/P 7839," "EST. P 20935A," and "EST. M 9520," within the USDA mark of inspection. While no illnesses have been confirmed in connection with these products, the FSIS advises consumers to dispose of recalled items or return them to their place of purchase.
