Manitoba Health has announced a new measles exposure site, impacting Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. The public is advised that individuals who were in the emergency department waiting room or minor treatment areas between 1:05 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. last Thursday may have been exposed.
Authorities are strongly encouraging anyone who was at the exposure site during the specified times to confirm their measles vaccination records are up-to-date. This latest warning follows a significant increase in measles cases within Manitoba. Measles is highly contagious, spreading through respiratory droplets and capable of remaining airborne for hours.
