Australian singer Marty Rhone, 77, has shared startling health news, revealing he underwent major open heart surgery. Rhone disclosed on Facebook that he had been living with a "ticking time bomb" for three years due to his ascending aorta expanding to a critical 5cm. This dimension posed a significant risk of a fatal rupture or split.

The surgery, which lasted seven hours, involved supporting his aorta and performing a bypass. Rhone spent the initial three days in intensive care following the procedure. He described the experience as intense, akin to "being hit by a MAC truck."

Despite the challenging recovery ahead, Rhone expressed optimism, crediting the support of friends and fans for giving him strength. He also extended his thanks to his surgical team for their care and expertise. Rhone, famous for his 1970s hits like 'Denim and Lace,' is now focusing on his gradual recovery.
