Those who were at the Harvest Christian Fellowship Church on January 4, the Boundary Trails Health Centre on January 5, or the Centre médico-social De Salaberry Health Centre on January 9 are advised to watch for measles symptoms. Measles is highly contagious, with the virus capable of lingering in the air for up to two hours.
Symptoms typically appear one to three weeks post-exposure and can include fever, runny nose, and a characteristic rash. Complications are more common in infants, young children, and those with weakened immune systems. Provincial data shows over 86% of confirmed and probable measles cases since last February were among unvaccinated individuals, underscoring the importance of the MMR or MMRV vaccine.
