Maharashtra has initiated a first-of-its-kind strategy to utilize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for bolstering public healthcare services across the state. This plan is a key component of the Public Health department's "Healthcare Access Vision: By 2029," targeting affordable and quality care for all.
The initiative will channel CSR funds into critical areas such as infrastructure upgrades for hospitals and primary health centers, procurement of advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment, and strengthening laboratory services. It also aims to introduce digital solutions for improved health program monitoring and delivery, addressing systemic issues like manual tracking and fragmented reporting.
A dedicated CSR portal has been developed to serve as a single platform for corporate engagement, ensuring transparency and efficient project tracking. Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar emphasized that this approach will modernize health infrastructure and extend quality care to tribal, remote, and marginalized populations, urging corporate collaboration.
