A distressing video emerged from a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Beed, Maharashtra, showing five women recuperating on the floor following family planning surgery. The incident, which occurred at the PHC in Kaij tehsil, gained national attention and prompted swift action from Health Minister Prakash Abitkar.
The remote health facility, equipped with only 10 beds, was overwhelmed when 15 women arrived for sterilization surgery during a recent camp. Despite the lack of bedding, the women insisted on undergoing the procedure to avoid missing their migration window for work, providing their consent.
