The 'Mazhe Gaav, Aarogya Sampann Gaav' (My Village, Healthy Village) initiative was launched on Tuesday, aiming to foster health awareness and people's participation throughout Maharashtra. This program is designed to transform rural healthcare delivery by ensuring quality services are accessible at the doorstep of every citizen.
The public health department is leveraging its resources and schemes, including the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, which is now mandatory at all primary health centers. Services such as free ECG and dialysis are being provided. It is emphasized that these services must effectively reach all needy citizens and patients.
Additionally, the campaign focuses on countering misinformation, especially regarding the ongoing HPV vaccination drive for cervical cancer prevention. To ensure successful implementation, divisional-level training workshops were organized for district officials and staff from various districts across Maharashtra.
Senior officials provided guidance on the campaign's objectives and framework during these workshops. Participants included health department representatives from Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli districts. The importance of 'Patient Welfare Committees' at the grassroots level was also highlighted.
