Ludhiana Intensifies Dengue Fight Before Monsoon
14 May
Summary
- Enforcement drive intensified to pre-empt dengue cases during the rainy season.
- Officials directed to step up surveillance and carry out door-to-door inspections.
- 87 beds earmarked across Ludhiana for dengue management.

Authorities in Ludhiana have intensified an enforcement drive to preempt a rise in dengue cases as the rainy season approaches. Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain has directed municipal and health departments to enhance surveillance and conduct comprehensive door-to-door inspections, imposing penalties where larvae are found. Government departments are observing Fridays as a 'dry day' to prevent water stagnation and curb mosquito breeding.
Health officials report that the dengue situation remains under control, with no cases reported since February this year. However, prevention is a top priority, with ongoing awareness campaigns and house-to-house visits. Hotspot areas identified in previous years continue to be monitored, and intensive anti-larvae activities are underway.
Preparedness at healthcare facilities has been strengthened, with dengue medicines available at Aam Aadmi Clinics and hospitals. Approximately 87 beds have been designated for dengue management in Ludhiana, and testing and treatment are accessible at government hospitals. Private hospitals are also mandated to report positive cases, as dengue is a notifiable disease.
