Summary
- Over 650kg of paneer seized in two Ludhiana operations.
- A 500kg consignment was intercepted en route from Haryana.
- Samples sent for testing; remaining stock destroyed.

In a proactive measure before the festive season, health department officials in Ludhiana confiscated about 650kg of paneer during two separate operations on Saturday. The seizures included a substantial 500kg consignment that was reportedly being transported from Haryana into the city.
The initial raid occurred at Sabzi Mandi, where approximately 150kg of paneer was recovered. Following leads from this operation, authorities intercepted the larger 500kg consignment as it arrived from Nirvana, Haryana. Both consignments had their samples collected for laboratory analysis to verify their compliance with food safety standards.
Any paneer that did not meet the required standards was destroyed on-site as per established norms. Further actions will be determined based on the results of the laboratory tests, which are currently pending. These intensified inspections underscore the department's commitment to ensuring food safety during periods of heightened demand for dairy products.
