Official data indicates that 15 out of 39 ghee samples tested between April 1 and September 15 were substandard, and two were deemed unsafe.
This heightened scrutiny follows the Punjab government's ban on analogue paneer. Food safety teams have significantly increased inspections across the district. During recent drives, officials confiscated and destroyed 35kg of paneer suspected to be substandard and unfit for consumption. These ongoing efforts are part of a zero-tolerance policy towards food adulteration.
Further laboratory testing is pending for paneer and khoa samples collected from areas like Dehlon and Ladowal. The department's records also reveal that two of four paneer samples tested in August were substandard, underscoring a broader concern about dairy product quality in the region.
