As Uttar Pradesh aims for a medical college in every district, Lucknow has secured over ₹5,595 crore in the 2026-27 budget for its four leading government medical institutions. This funding targets the establishment of quaternary care facilities, acquisition of robotic surgery platforms, and development of advanced cancer treatment infrastructure.
SGPGIMS received a substantial ₹2,246 crore, marking a 74% increase. Funds are earmarked for a 500-bed super-speciality complex, including cardiac, neurosciences, and oncology services, alongside machinery and equipment.
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences will acquire advanced equipment like a robotic system for cancer surgeries and a dual-energy CT scan. King George's Medical University's allocation rose to ₹1,938 crore, with a significant portion for construction and medical equipment.
