Cancer Care Revolution: Lucknow Gets Advanced Molecular Diagnostics
3 Sep
Summary
- Advanced molecular diagnostic tests are now available in Lucknow.
- New center offers next-generation sequencing for personalized cancer therapy.
- Initiative aims to reduce patient travel for sophisticated genomic testing.

The Centre for Advanced Molecular Diagnostics and Research for Cancer (CAMDRC) has begun clinical services in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant advancement in cancer diagnostics for the region. This new facility, a joint effort by KSSSCI, IIT Kanpur, and Karkinos Healthcare, provides state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based testing.
The CAMDRC aims to make sophisticated genomic cancer testing more accessible, thereby reducing the necessity for patients to travel to distant metropolitan centers. The center offers both tissue-based genomic profiling for various solid tumors and non-invasive liquid biopsy testing for advanced cancers.
By examining the genetic characteristics of tumors, molecular testing helps doctors identify specific alterations. This enables the selection of more personalized treatment strategies, potentially improving patient outcomes. Institutions across Uttar Pradesh are invited to collaborate on research and training.
This development brings advanced diagnostic capabilities, including tests for breast, lung, colorectal, and many other solid tumors, directly to patients in Uttar Pradesh. The availability of liquid biopsy also offers a crucial alternative when obtaining tumor tissue is challenging.
