Definium Therapeutics announced a significant advancement in its LSD-based treatment for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). The company's late-stage study revealed that a single 100-microgram dose of its fast-dissolving tablet, DT120, substantially reduced anxiety symptoms over a 12-week period.
This latest trial builds on previous success, with two studies now indicating the drug's efficacy. CEO Robert Barrow expressed confidence that these results address key questions regarding the drug's effect, as Definium prepares to seek U.S. FDA approval in the first half of 2027. This development is particularly noteworthy given the historical challenges in gaining approval for GAD treatments.
The study involved 245 patients who received either a 100mcg dose, a 50mcg dose, or a placebo. While both doses of DT120 showed benefits, the higher dose exhibited greater efficacy. Definium is encouraged by these findings as it moves towards regulatory review.
