The Food Safety Officer collected the sample, which was then tested by Cali Lab Pvt. Ltd. in Bhopal. The laboratory report confirmed the excess preservative levels, leading the district administration to prohibit the sale, storage, and distribution of this batch within Durg. Business operators are required to recall and dispose of any remaining stock.
Authorities have informed the state Food Safety Commissioner to potentially extend the ban statewide and have also contacted the manufacturer in Chennai. This outreach aims to facilitate a nationwide recall of the implicated batch, with officials warning of legal action against violations. The excess preservatives are a particular concern for children's health.
