Summary
- Cognitive rehab trial shows possibility of reversing Long Covid symptoms.
- Simple techniques significantly improved memory and concentration.
- 84% saw improvements, offering hope to millions affected by Long Covid.

A pioneering cognitive rehabilitation program developed by UK scientists has shown success in helping Long Covid patients recover. The University College London trial is the first to demonstrate that effective brain rehabilitation is possible for those suffering from persistent cognitive symptoms.
The ten-week program utilized techniques like visualization and chunking to improve memory and concentration. Participants engaged in hour-long one-to-one video calls with therapists, learning strategies to manage brain fog and fatigue.
Results published in JAMA Network Open indicated significant improvements. After three months, 84% of participants reported substantial symptom reduction, compared to 53% in the control group. Six months post-trial, 53% showed sustained improvement in goal attainment.
This breakthrough offers hope to the millions worldwide experiencing debilitating cognitive difficulties, such as memory loss and attention deficits, after a Covid-19 infection. The established techniques used in the program suggest it could be widely implemented.
