27 Mar
Summary

- ALS has already led to 15 positive outcomes in 36 cardiac arrests.
- Fire engines can reach patients faster than ambulances.

Lodi Fire Department has successfully reinstated advanced life support (ALS) services, marking a significant return of these capabilities not experienced in the city since the 1970s. Over the last six months, the department has responded to 36 cardiac arrests, achieving 15 positive outcomes thanks to the new ALS services.
These enhanced services allow paramedics to provide a higher level of medical care and transmit patient data directly to hospitals. Fire Chief Ken Johnson highlighted that fire engines are often closer to residents than ambulances, enabling critical care within the crucial first four minutes of a 911 call.
The department aims to provide these 24/7 advanced services from all fire stations, further expanding their medical response capabilities and improving response times for critical emergencies throughout Lodi.
