A voluntary recall has been issued for the Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0 after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration identified significant contamination. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of undeclared ingredients, fluoxetine in the morning tablets and the toxic substance 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP) in the evening tablets. Fluoxetine is an approved antidepressant, while DNP is a pesticide not approved for human use.
The FDA has issued a strong warning regarding the severe health risks associated with the recalled batch (Lot 25M12F, expiration 09/2027). The contamination can lead to serious and potentially life-threatening adverse effects. These include neurological issues like seizures and suicidal thoughts, as well as cardiac arrest, rapid heart rate, and sudden death. Long-term exposure may cause damage to various organs.
