26 Sep
Summary
- Lior brand cinnamon recalled for high lead levels.
- Product distributed in six states from November 2025 to September.
- No illnesses reported, but lead exposure can cause permanent damage.

Galil Importing Corp. has initiated a voluntary recall of its Lior brand Ground Cinnamon due to the presence of elevated lead levels. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the alert on Thursday, detailing that the affected product, packaged in 90-gram transparent plastic containers with lot code GAP11304, was distributed between November 18, 2025, and September 7. The recall specifically impacts distribution within New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, and Illinois.
This recall stems from a sample analyzed by the Maryland Department of Health, which revealed the concerning lead contamination. Although no illnesses have been reported thus far, the FDA emphasizes the potential dangers of lead exposure. Short-term exposure may go undetected, while prolonged or acute exposure can lead to severe health issues, including permanent damage to the central nervous system, developmental defects, and learning disorders, particularly in children. Consumers are strongly urged to stop consumption, discard the product, or return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
