Lincs Council Adult Care Needs Improvement

Lincolnshire County Council's adult social care services have received a 'requires improvement' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The regulator identified that some individuals faced challenges accessing necessary support, partly due to a lack of transport options.

Additionally, young people reported varied experiences when transitioning from children's to adult services. The CQC also noted that the council did not consistently ensure quick access to essential equipment or minor home modifications for residents.

Councillor Steve Clegg stated that leadership is aware of the necessary improvements and is actively implementing plans. The CQC's director, Mary Cridge, acknowledged solid foundations but highlighted areas needing further development to ensure comprehensive support for all.

She specifically mentioned that some individuals found accessing care difficult, with reviews sometimes routed through customer service before assessment. Cridge also pointed out that autistic individuals, those with learning disabilities, and people with mental health needs sometimes had to rely on residential care due to limited alternative options.
