Summary

- Her mother shared memories of Liberty's kindness and determination.
- Symptoms began with fatigue and swelling, initially mistaken for other conditions.
Liberty York, aged 19, tragically succumbed to a rare form of angiosarcoma just two days after celebrating her birthday. Her mother, Hannah York, has since shared poignant memories of her daughter's life, emphasizing her kindness and unwavering spirit that existed beyond her illness.
Liberty faced angiosarcoma, a rare soft tissue sarcoma, which manifests in areas like muscle and fat. The first symptoms appeared in May 2024, with Liberty experiencing unusual fatigue and nausea. Initially, these were considered in conjunction with her prior diagnosis of Addison's disease, a rare autoimmune condition.
As the family awaited specialist consultations, Liberty developed swelling and pain in her left breast. A GP visit led to a suspected diagnosis of mastitis due to the redness and discomfort. However, the swelling continued to increase, a key symptom of the cancer, and antibiotics proved ineffective, leading doctors to suspect an abscess.
