10 Jul
Summary
- A two-year-old boy passed away unexpectedly after contracting Strep A.
- Doctors were surprised by his lack of severe symptoms before death.
- His parents raised £10,000 for SUDC UK charity support.

A family's world was shattered on New Year's Eve when their two-year-old son, Leo, was found not breathing and cold. His mother, Anya, discovered him after his sister Sienna alerted her. Paramedics performed CPR, but Leo could not be revived. Initial examinations revealed no obvious life-ending signs.
Five months later, in May 2024, an extensive coroner's report identified Streptococcus A in Leo's blood. Pathologists noted that Leo should have exhibited more pronounced symptoms given the infection's severity. His parents, Anya and Hugo, found support through SUDC UK, a charity aiding families of children who die suddenly and unexpectedly.
To honor Leo and support other families, Anya and Hugo embarked on a 50km Ultra Challenge Walk in the Peak District on July 4, 2026. They raised £10,000 for SUDC UK, carrying Leo's favorite teddy bear throughout the emotional journey. Their goal is to increase research funding and public awareness.
