In a significant stride for healthcare accessibility, Ladakh has introduced the Ladakh Sanjeevani Seva, a 24x7 ambulance service comprising 73 newly launched vehicles. This initiative aims to provide dedicated ambulance access to all 248 villages across the vast cold desert region.
The service is strategically deployed, with ambulances positioned an average of 13 km from villages, minimizing response times in this geographically challenging terrain. Special emphasis is placed on maternal health, with over 1100 pregnant women identified and registered in a centralized database for priority care.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena hailed the service as a new lifeline, underscoring the administration's commitment to ensuring no citizen is denied medical assistance due to distance. The network is designed to cater to critical patients suffering from cancer, kidney disease, heart disease, stroke, and serious lung ailments, ensuring timely medical intervention.
