On Saturday, February 7, 2026, facilities valued at ₹98 crore were unveiled at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Government Dental College, and Government College of Nursing in Kozhikode. Health Minister Veena George emphasized the public's reliance on government hospitals, citing the Kozhikode MCH's leading role in primary angioplasty surgeries, with over 5,000 cardiological procedures recently completed. The hospital also excels in cochlear implantations.
The lab at Kozhikode MCH has been elevated to an infectious disease research and diagnostic lab, a significant national upgrade. The recent approval to commence postgraduate courses in Nuclear Medicine marks another achievement for the institution. Furthermore, efforts are being made to establish a 'Skin Bank' at the Kozhikode MCH, inspired by a similar facility in Thiruvananthapuram.
