Kota Women Get Free Kidney Treatment After Childbirth Crisis
17 Jul
Summary
- Five women with kidney failure after childbirth receive free treatment.
- Agreement includes priority dialysis and expedited kidney transplants.
- Administration assures Rs 2 lakh financial aid for affected patients.

Kota's district administration and Government Medical College have reached an agreement with five women experiencing kidney failure after childbirth. This pact assures them of free medical treatment, including priority dialysis and expedited kidney transplants. The women, who had previously sought urgent intervention from President Droupadi Murmu, will also receive financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh.
The agreement guarantees that all medical treatments, including dialysis and potential cadaver kidney transplants, will be provided free of charge and on a priority basis. If living donors are available within their families, transplants will also be expedited and covered by the government. Furthermore, kidney transplants can be performed at any government medical institution in Rajasthan, including AIIMS Jodhpur, at no cost to the patients.
This situation highlights a broader maternal health crisis in Kota, where several women have developed kidney complications following C-section procedures at government hospitals. The crisis gained significant attention after multiple deaths and hospitalizations of women in critical condition.
Separately, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Rajasthan government concerning reports of eight women and a minor dying in Bhilwara and Banswara districts after surgeries in government hospitals. The NHRC is seeking a detailed report on these incidents within two weeks.
