Olive Oil Recall: Unapproved Garlic Essential Oil Used

LMSI LLC, operating as Kofinas Olive Oil, has initiated a voluntary recall of its Garlic Mediterranean Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The reason for the recall is the product's inclusion of a garlic essential oil that has not received approval for culinary use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

As of September 3, 2026, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. However, the FDA urges consumers to remain vigilant for any signs of allergic reactions or foodborne illness and to seek medical attention if necessary. Foodborne illnesses can manifest with symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

The recalled olive oil, available in 500 ml, 250 ml, and 100 ml glass bottles, was distributed between August 31, 2025, and August 27, 2026. Its sale was limited to two specific store locations in Ohio and directly through the company's website.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are encouraged to report any adverse reactions to Kofinas Olive Oil. Furthermore, customers have the option to return the product to the point of purchase for a full refund.
