The Phase IIa INFLAM MOTION trial by 4Moving Biotech has concluded patient enrollment. This multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled study is evaluating 4P004, an intra-articular GLP-1 receptor agonist, for knee osteoarthritis characterized by synovitis. Patients from Europe, the US, and Canada participated.
The trial enrolled 129 patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis and confirmed synovitis. They received either a single injection of 4P004 (2mg) or a placebo. Synovitis was prioritized as a risk factor over obesity.
Key objectives include assessing knee pain reduction at week 4 and evaluating changes in synovial tissue thickness and other biomarkers. Professor Francis Berenbaum highlighted that 4P004 aims to modulate inflammation and potentially slow progression.
Patient follow-up is ongoing, with top line data from the study expected by the end of December 2026. These results are crucial for designing a potential Phase IIb trial and advancing 4P004's development.
