A new £11.5m health facility in King's Lynn, the King's Lynn Health Hub (KLHH), has opened without the promised GP service, drawing sharp criticism from local officials. Opened in spring 2025, the hub was intended to relieve pressure on existing town surgeries and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
Despite offering mental health, pharmacy, and physiotherapy services, the absence of general practitioners has led to accusations of a "betrayal" of public expectations. Local councillor Alexandra Kemp highlighted that primary healthcare, including general practice, was a stated aim.
King's Lynn Primary Care Network (KLPCN), operating from the hub, expressed surprise at the concerns, stating there were never plans to include GPs due to resourcing limitations. They clarified this stance from the project's inception.
Several hospital clinics, including dermatology and antenatal care, have relocated to the KLHH, with QEH seeing it as a way to provide community-based care closer to patients. However, concerns persist regarding inadequate GP provision for an area experiencing significant housing development and population growth.
