Peshawar, Pakistan – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrated a significant milestone on Wednesday with the inauguration of its first "Senior Harmony Haven and Hospice." This dedicated shelter home for senior citizens represents a collaborative effort between the province's social welfare department and a generous philanthropist.
The state-of-the-art, four-storey facility, located in Hayatabad, was fully funded by a philanthropist who covered the construction costs on government land. Designed to accommodate 150 senior citizens, the haven promises a secure and comfortable living environment.
While the construction was privately funded, the social welfare department has committed to managing all operational and recurring expenses for the project. The facility boasts 45 rooms and is equipped with a multidisciplinary care team, including doctors, psychologists, and nursing assistants.
The project's vision extends beyond mere shelter, aiming to foster a community offering emotional support and comprehensive well-being services for its residents. This initiative underscores a commitment to improving the quality of life for the elderly in the region.
