Vijayan highlighted Kerala's innovative spirit, citing initiatives like India's Digital University and the upcoming Digital Science Park. He stressed integrating traditional knowledge with modern research infrastructure to advance scientific progress. The IRIA aims to foster this synergy, building upon the state's knowledge-driven transformation.
The institute plans to collaborate with skilled traditional healers, valuing their experiential knowledge for young researchers. While cautioning against fraud, it acknowledges the importance of practitioners. Efforts will focus on identifying, preserving, and cultivating medicinal plants, with plans to expand the herbal garden substantially.
Health Minister Veena George described the inauguration as a landmark event for Kerala's healthcare and Ayurveda. She noted the institute's potential for evidence-based research and global academic collaboration, mentioning interest from Japan and the Malabar Cancer Centre for integrative research.
