27 Nov
Summary
- Hospitals must display services and rates in Malayalam and English.
- Initial life-saving aid cannot be denied due to non-payment.
- Hospitals must provide all investigation reports upon patient discharge.

The Kerala High Court has mandated that all clinical establishments prominently display their services, baseline rates, and package charges in both Malayalam and English. This directive aims to enhance transparency and patient rights within the state's healthcare sector. Hospitals are also required to provide comprehensive information, including deposit and refund policies, and patient rights summaries.
The court stressed that no hospital should deny initial life-saving aid due to non-payment or lack of documents. Furthermore, upon a patient's discharge, all investigation reports must be handed over to enable patients to maintain proper medical records. A clear grievance redressal pathway, including contact details for a grievance officer and authorities, must also be displayed.
