25 May
Summary
- Hospitals directed to maintain adequate medicine and consumable stocks.
- Government to prevent surgeries from being disrupted by systemic failures.
- Strict hygiene and infection control measures are mandatory in all hospitals.

Kerala's Health Minister, K. Muraleedharan, has issued directives for health authorities to ensure pre-monsoon preparedness activities proceed without interruption, anticipating a rise in seasonal infectious diseases. He stressed the importance of maintaining adequate stocks of medicines, equipment, and consumables in all hospitals.
Measures are also being implemented to prevent systemic failures from disrupting surgical procedures. Hospital authorities have been instructed to strictly adhere to surgical protocols and maintain rigorous hygiene and infection control practices to prevent hospitals from becoming breeding grounds for infections.
The government aims to augment treatment facilities at primary health centers. This initiative seeks to reduce unnecessary referrals to medical college hospitals, thereby mitigating overcrowding at the tertiary level. New posts for doctors and ancillary staff will be created where needed, alongside staff redeployment to ensure equitable distribution across all institutions.
