Confirmed or suspected meningitis cases in Kent have climbed to 34, according to the UK Health Security Agency. The agency reported 23 laboratory-confirmed cases, with an additional 11 notifications still being investigated.
Tragically, the current outbreak has led to the deaths of two young individuals. In response to the rising numbers, a fifth vaccination centre has been established in the county, drawing hundreds of people who began queuing early in the morning.
Since the introduction of the vaccination program on Wednesday, a total of 5,841 people have received the vaccine, reflecting the urgent public health response to the situation.
