Hospital Water Woes Persist Three Months On
23 Jul
Summary
- Kent hospital still provides bottled water to patients three months after water issue.
- A boiler leak was identified as the source of the contamination in the water supply.
- Patients and families express frustration over the prolonged disruption.

Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent, is still relying on bottled water for patients over three months after an issue with its supply was declared critical. The problem, which began on April 28, has meant some taps remain unusable in parts of the hospital. Patients and their families have described the ongoing situation as "outrageous."
Initially reported as repaired on May 5, the contamination was later traced to a leaking boiler. While water outlets in the west block were cleared for handwashing and showering by May 13, testing for drinking water is still ongoing. The Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust assures that extensive measures are in place, including providing bottled water, to ensure patient safety as remedial work continues.
