On September 2nd, 2025, the Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) in Kenora, Ontario opened a new sports medicine clinic to deliver musculoskeletal care to the local community. The clinic, led by Dr. Saba Saberi, who recently joined the Kenora medical team, will offer a range of services including treatment for sports injuries, workplace injuries, and chronic muscle or joint conditions.
Prior to the clinic's opening, residents of Kenora had limited options for this type of specialized care, often having to travel to Winnipeg's Pan Am Clinic for treatment. Dr. Sven Pedersen, the hospital's rehabilitation lead, explains that the new clinic will ensure timely access to care and better utilize imaging resources and specialists, potentially reducing visits to the emergency room and decreasing the need for some patients to travel for treatment.
LWDH President and CEO Cheryl O'Flaherty expressed her delight that Dr. Saberi has joined the local healthcare team, stating that the new clinic has the potential to significantly improve patient experiences and healing journeys in the Kenora region.
